With humanoid industrial robots, automation, and artificial intelligence, Mercedes-Benz is reshaping automotive production at its Digital Factory Campus in Berlin-Marienfelde. Mercedes-Benz is in the process of reinventing its entire production network.

The Berlin-Marienfelde plant is at the heart of this evolution - a flagship site for innovation - especially in regard to the company’s MO360 digital production technologies. The Berlin plant is built upon cognified production capabilities including the innovative use of humanoid industrial robots to manufacture high-performance electric axial-flux motors.

Berlin-Marienfelde was originally established as Mercedes-Benz’s global site for the digitalisation of production in 2022 with the establishment of the Mercedes-Benz Digital Factory Campus (MBDFC). The MBDFC serves as the digitalization testbed for future software applications in a real-world production environment.

The MO360 digital production ecosystem serves as MO360 software applications and data across the global production network.The MBDFC is where new processes and technologies will be developed, tested and rolled out within Mercedes-Benz’s global production network with the objective of improving manufacturing efficiency. This includes processes that are closely associated with the Mercedes-Benz Operating System (MB.OS).

Up to this point, the automobile manufacturer's Digital Factory Chatbot Ecosystem and MO360LLM models have been utilized to enhance Mercedes-Benz's MO360 production system using AI-powered technology. The Marienfelde facility has also been pivotal in the preparation of the Rastatt factory for the ramp-up of the new Mercedes-Benz CLA - the first vehicle built from a Mercedes-Benz Operating System (MB.OS) .Another major innovation being researched and tested in the plant is the humanoid robots. At the plant, the robots, supplied by Apptronik - an American robotics company - are contributing to the facility's global leadership in innovative manufacturing.
